"I rarely draw what I see. I draw what I feel with my body"
My home edders looked at Barbara Hepworth today. We finished our Van Gogh's from last week and moved onto Babs. We looked at several examples of her work and talked about what 'abstract' meant and also how the sculptures made us feel. One little lad said her work was simple but that's what was good about it and it made him feel calm. I think that sums up Hepworth beautifully.
We then made our own micro sculptures. Worked with air-drying clay but didn't find it to be a malleable as we'd have liked. But I think the kids captured the essence of Hepworth. Thanks for your beautiful contribution Kirsty 'Stock' Cummins!
