Monday art club looked at Keith Haring. Street art/pop art from the 80's and many people still don't know his name yet when they see his work they realised that they're very familiar with it. His style has gone on to influence all sorts and as one lad pointed out, one of the images looked a bit like Spongebob! Kids responded really well to the cartoon style and were fascinated by one piece called Cruella de Ville. I was fascinated by the fact that not a single kid knew what she was holding...a cigarette. They asked 'what's a cigarette?'
They drew their action people in Haring style and we cut them out to make 3 each in a different colour. After glueing them down, they drew patterns around the people. Looked awesome!
