Modigliani

The lovely home edders looked at Modigliani and listened attentively to how his birth saved his family from destitution (ancient law forbade bailiffs taking anything if the wife is pregnant. The family piled all their precious jewels on her pregnant tummy when the bailiffs turned up and they couldn't take them!) Kids were also intrigued by the fact that Modigliani was 'a bit naughty' and disguised his contagious tuberculosis as having had a bit too much to drink! We looked at examples of African masks as they heavily influenced Modigliani's style and the kids made some stunning portraits. Very enjoyable afternoon.
