Monday Art Club: Hockney

I've really enjoyed working with this ace group of kids and am sad that our workshop has finished. We looked at Hockney (they were impressed that he's from Yorkshire and we digressed a bit into saying words in Yorkshire and then Essex accents. The kids called it The Yorkshire Test!) and we concentrated on Hockney's swimming pool paintings. We talked about how he achieved the effect of the sun reflecting on the water and how people's hair looks when it's in water. Then they used oil pastels and water colours to create some beautiful art. I particularly liked Poppy's inclusion of our pet cat wearing a bikini in the pool!
