Was a very fun start to new art workshop today with my new group. It's impossible not to get a bit giddy when it's Jackson Pollock's action art in the garden. They certainly embraced the notion of using the whole body to create art. We looked at examples of his work and I explained how he's considered to be controversial. Is it art or not? The kids unanimously agreed that it was art and delighted me with the things that they said they could see in a Pollock painting. We created our own pieces with spray bottles in the garden and then marbles in trays. Everyone went home covered in paint and looking like human versions of a Pollock painting!
