Summer Workshop: Marc Quinn

We looked at Quinn's 'Self' sculpture of his own head. It's always amusing to see the children's look of amazement when they discover that it's made of Quinn's own frozen blood. I had to reassure one little girl that we wouldn't be using our blood in our art today! We also looked at Quinn's controversial Alison Lapper Pregnant sculpture which resulted in a very interesting chat about notions of beauty and attitudes towards disability. They all agreed that the sculpture was a good thing to do.
