Berthe Morisot
Home edder artists looked at Berthe Morisot - the only woman in the original group of Impressionists. She sold more paintings than Monet and Renoir but not many have heard of her! Sometimes it's hard to be a woman... We watched an animation about Impressionism and looked at examples of Impressionist art as well as art before this new movement. This highlighted just how different the style was and we had a great discussion about it. The kids found it funny that many people at the time thought Impressionist art was lazy and unfinished. We made our own textured paints using flour, sand, glitter and salt and created some gorgeous landscapes.
