Marimo Ragawa

Time to say farewell to my Wednesday and Thursday groups as we come to the end of the 8 week art course. It's been a really enjoyable experience and we finished with Japanese manga artist Marimo Ragawa. We looked at examples of manga and anime and particularly focussed on manga's huge eyes and how to draw the 'eye shine'. We also looked at Pokemon and the kids had the option of either creating or copying a Pokemon character or making a manga style booklet.In the Wednesday group we rather spontaneously ended up using google translator to learn a bit of Japanese. Kids would call out sometimes bizarrely random sentences to translate e.g 'I climbed up Mount Fuji but I slipped back down' !
