After School Club: Giotto
We travelled back in time about 750 years to find out about the 'father of modern art', Italian artist and architect Giotto. Apprentice to Cimabue, he was the first artist to use perspective and to convey emotion in his art. Apparently, once he drew a fly that was so realistic, Cimabue kept trying to swat it away! No such thing as a trip to the art shop to buy some paint in those days so we too made our own paint. We used chalks, egg yolk and a little water. The process was huge fun...grinding the chalks with stones, separating the yolks and whites, whipping it all up. Then we used our homemade paint to create some stunning angels.
