Self-Portraits: Anh Duong

Again, the kids all cheered to hear that today's artist was actually still alive (note to self: must include less dead ones!) I have recently discovered Anh Duong. I love her weird, insect-like self-portraits. There's a definite Egon Shiele look to some of her art too. Duong has been credited with creating The True Selfie and once said "I feel like painting is a place where I can hide and where I can show the most". The kids relished creating selfies with enormous eyes and I was so happy at how they noted light and dark tones. Amazing results.
