Faith Ringgold

This week my wee artists looked at African-Amercian artist Faith Ringgold. Another cheer went up that it was an 'alive' artist. Faith is particularly known for her story quilts - a tradition passed down from her grandmother who had been a slave - and so we made our own versions with fabric, paper and pens. I asked the kids to think about things associated with their home town - Hebden was all ducks, bridges and sweet shop - or simply things that they enjoy. Their story quilts were lovely!
