Renaissance
This week we travelled back about 600 years to visit the Renaissance art movement. This was a very exciting time full of new ideas and great discoveries. Whereas Romanesque art was all about religion, Renaissance art began to focus on the achievements of living people. Portraits were more realistic - warts 'n all - and artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael became almost as famous as popes and princes. The kids snazzed up Da Vinci's Mona Lisa with coffee filter papers and water colours and then did a landscape to include perspective as the three-dimensional technique was a new approach during this time. Check out those Mona Lisas!
