Summer Art - Dreamcatchers

Today's workshop ventured into the world of craft and we made dreamcatchers. Kids are naturally fascinated by these and the idea that their bad dreams will be trapped in the web. Native American Indians believed that the bad dreams would melt away at sunrise whereas the good dreams travel down the feathers back into your head. I reckon that if you want to believe it, then it may well work! So it's a comforting as well as pretty thing to hang on your bedroom wall. The threading and tieing knots can be fiddly and tricky for youngsters but they all seemed to enjoy the challenge and liked making the cobweb in the middle. We used metal hoops but there are paper plate/hole puncher versions for very young ones. Threading the beads is the really fun bit. Very enjoyable day. Should be lots of happy dreams tonight...
