Summer art - South and Central America

Last Friday it was last of the summer...art workshops.

We looked at patterns from Central and South America. Starting with prayer bowls from the Huichol Indians of Mexico. We made our own versions with paper plates and cotton buds, to mimic the glass beads and bright colours.

Then we made our own Ojo de Dios - Eye of God good luck charms, inspired by the Indians of Mexico and Bolivia. The kids wrapped wool around sticks and glued on beads. A really calm and satisfying activity!

I've enjoyed myself tremendously this summer and it's been a wonderful experience to work with these budding artists and watch their individual creative expression emerge. Big thanks to everyone who attended and hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

An art exhibition by the kids for the kids will be taking place in October. Details to be confirmed soon.
