Monday Art Club: Van Gogh
The unexpectedly beautiful weather meant that Tuesday's after school art club was mostly in the garden. After we'd watched a bbc bitesize video on Van Gogh, looked at examples of his work and gleefully discussed some fun Van Gogh facts, we made our way to the garden to create our own Starry Night.
It was really enjoyable to sit with the kids while they created their masterpieces and one little lad commented on how his painting looked like a meteorite. This led to a fab discussion about space, evolution and dinosaurs. One lad, in the grip of the all too familiar Star Wars phase, added a Death Star to his Van Gogh Starry Night. Reckon Van Gogh would've loved that! Lovely afternoon.
