Hannah Hoch
It was the final week for the home ed artists. It's been a great group to work with and I've really enjoyed witnessing their unique approaches to each artist and their growing friendships with each other. Today we looked at German artist Hannah Höch. She was one of the first pioneers of photomontage. Apparently, the only woman in the Dada movement. The kids loved looking at examples of her work. One girl asked me "are all artists weird then?". After explaining the technique of photomontage, the kids got stuck in. Armed with scissors, glue sticks and a pile of magazines, they had great fun creating their own Höch masterpieces.
