Tuesday Art Club: Arcimboldo
My Tuesday art club spent their final session looking at the Italian painter Arcimboldo. After we practised waving our hands around and shouting 'Arcimboldo' in our best Italian accents, we watched a presentation on his art and how he used natural objects in his portraits. We focussed on the portraits representing the elements which led to all sorts of interesting chat about zodiac signs and Chinese signs. We figured out there were 4 oxen, 3 tigers and 1 dog in the room. Then using fruit and veg, the kids made their edible art faces (quote: 'this is the best day ever!") and later used pictures to create a collage. The kids loved the idea of eating their own face.
