Home Ed: Jen Garrido

New art course started this week and we began with a fun look at abstract art and the work of an American artist called Jen Garrido. Kids naturally seem to warm to abstract art and when we were looking at a few examples, they all saw different things in each picture ranging from onions to rabbits! And they liked the fact that no one is wrong in their interpretations. Using pipettes, inks and straws, the kids blew the ink around the paper to make abstract shapes. Then coloured in the negative spaces. It's both a very organic and controlled piece of work. And very beautiful.
